This role is pivotal in driving the planning and initial execution phases of a multi-year Zero Trust adoption effort. Responsibilities As the Cloud Architect for this Zero Trust initiative, you will: Develop and implement USSOCOM’s comprehensive cloud computing strategy, including adoption plans, governance models, and security frameworks aligned with Zero Trust principles. Design secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) across various deployment models (public, private, hybrid) to meet mission and application requirements. Convert technical project requirements into detailed cloud architecture and design specifications that guide the development and deployment of cloud solutions. Lead the design and implementation of cloud security architectures, ensuring compliance with DoD ZT mandates (91 target activities by FY27, 61 advanced activities by FY33), RMF, and other relevant security standards. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of cloud-native designs, considering time, cost, and security constraints. Oversee the integration of software applications and services into cloud environments, ensuring interoperability and adherence to architectural best practices. Develop enterprise architecture components related to cloud services required to meet user needs, documenting all definition and architecture activities. Prepare detailed workflow charts, models, and diagrams describing cloud service input, output, and logical operations. Consult with engineering staff to evaluate and optimize interfaces between hardware, software, and cloud services. Provide expert guidance on cloud-based knowledge management technologies, data management capabilities, and concepts related to security, governance, procurement, and administration. Leverage enterprise-wide version control systems while designing and developing secure cloud applications and infrastructure-as-code. Direct software programming and the development of documentation related to cloud architectures and solutions. Provide Cloud and Cloud Security guidance to leadership and contribute to the ZT Iplan with cloud-specific strategies. Qualifications Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI (Sensitive Compartmented Information) eligibility is required. Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience: A minimum of ten (10+) years of progressive experience in IT, with a significant focus on cloud architecture, software architecture, and cybersecurity. Experience designing and implementing secure cloud solutions (AWS, Azure) for DoD or USSOCOM environments is highly preferred. Certifications Required (one or more from the following primary groups): GIAC Cloud Security Professional (GCLD) OR (ISC)² Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) OR CompTIA Cloud+ AND/OR AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or AWS Certified Security - Specialty (or equivalent AWS Enterprise/Security certification) AND/OR Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200) (or equivalent Azure Architect/Security certification) Conditional Alternative (possession of one or more of these, demonstrating breadth and depth, may be considered with strong cloud architecture experience): GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA) - Preferred Relevant SecDevOps Certifications (e.g., Certified DevSecOps Professional, vendor-specific DevSecOps certs) CompTIA SecurityX (or equivalent advanced security certification like CASP+) Key Skills and Knowledge Expertise in developing and implementing cloud computing strategies, including designing cloud infrastructure, application architectures, and security architectures within a Zero Trust framework.
