Job Title: SIU Investigator (Inside Role)
Location: Buffalo, NY
Job Type: Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule
Work Arrangement: 8 on-site days/month, remaining days remote or in-office
Salary Range: $59,000 – $78,000
(Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.)
Position Summary
A leading property and casualty insurance provider in the Northeast is seeking an experienced Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Investigator to join its Corporate Claims Department. This is an inside investigative role focused on claims that show potential indicators of fraud or other suspicious activity. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in insurance fraud investigation, excellent communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate claims flagged for suspected fraud or irregularities using phone interviews, internal systems, and documentation review
Thoroughly document findings and maintain accurate, timely records in alignment with SIU best practices
Prepare formal reports for submission to state fraud bureaus and relevant regulatory agencies
Communicate investigative results to internal management and referring teams
Ensure all investigative actions and outcomes comply with internal guidelines and applicable laws
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience
Minimum 6 years of experience in SIU insurance investigations or a related investigative field
Demonstrated ability to identify and handle suspicious claim activity
Ability to maintain or earn the Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) or Fraud Claim Law Specialist (FCLS) designation within two years of hire
Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
